Cultural Connections: Gallery 1037

May

18

During May and June, Gallery 1037 will be featuring the work of two artists is ties to The Cummer Museum:  Matthew Patterson and Anna Reynolds.  Gallery 1037 is located within San Marco’s Reddi Arts, on Hendricks Avenue.  Matthew Patterson is a member of the Museum’s Visitor Services staff, and Anna Reynolds was one of the recipients of the Community Foundation’s Art Ventures grants, and was featured in the Art Ventures exhibition here at the Museum during 2011.  Both artists also participated in the Up & Cummer’s – What is Art? event featuring 50 up and coming artists.

Matthew Patterson

Patterson’s bio reads as follows:

“Matthew Patterson has lived all over America, from Honolulu to Brooklyn, and is currently based in Florida.

Despite being interested in a range of artistic practices he often returns to drawing as the favored method to address issues of spirituality, the body, fringe belief structures, witchcraft, symmetry, self-control and obsession.

He has exhibited both nationally and internationally and believes that, as a friend told him; “good art should be like a bible of the inner”.

Anna Reynolds

She is currently represented by SMART Gallery, located in the historic San Marco area of Jacksonville, and has shown her work in various group and solo shows at such venues as the Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville, Flat File Gallery, Push 2 Gallery, Olgesby Gallery, The von Liebig Art Center, St. Augustine Art Association, FSCJ Kent Gallery, Polk Community College, and the Siena Art Institute in Italy.
