1994 A Change of Name

In 1994, The Cummer Gallery of Art became The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens.
“Since Mrs. Cummer expressed her desire to create not simply an art collection, but ‘a center of beauty and culture,’ the word ‘museum’ seems particularly fitting to the purposes she had in mind.” Henry Adams, Director, 1994.

In 1994, The Cummer Gallery of Art became The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens.
