Our 50th Anniversary Ball was a huge success! Chairs Michelle Preuss, Becky Wachholz and Avery Williams created an elegant evening full of fun and camaraderie. Our 690 guests enjoyed good food, great wine, stellar entertainment and beautifully decorated galleries.

Michelle, Becky and Avery would like to acknowledge and thank the many volunteers who helped put such a beautiful evening together. An event this size could not happen without the help of a small army of volunteers!
A very special thank you to our Decorations Chairs, Katherine Forrester and Christy Blake, their creativity and vision made the museum shine. Katherine and Christy also worked closely with Mark Grandin of Mark Grandin Events. Our floral decorations were created by Ann Evans of Cypress. Ann’s designs are sophisticated, modern and elegant. A special effort was made to make each gallery unique.
Our Live Auction was a huge success and helped fund our art education programs: Taxis for Women of Vision, scholarships to Camp Cummer, buses for School Doors, adopt a Jr. Docent, and underwriting an Art Stop for our VSA Festival. The Up&Cummer’s donation, an original work of art based on Severin Roesen’s Still Life with Fruit andFlowers, was purchased that evening. Our Silent Auction, chaired by Karla Newton and Missy and Roland Boney was a big hit with our guests. Items included a pearl necklace from Tiffany & CO at the St. John’s Town Center, three chairs designed by local artists for Ethan Allen Jacksonville’s The Art of Elegance, and a selection of fine wines and tours from Napa Valley vineyards. The Cummer is grateful to the following donors and vineyards for supporting our mission, To engage and inspire through the arts, gardens and education: Steve and Sandy Ramsey, a wine tasting with Riverside Liquors and Wine Shop, Buccella Winery, Chappellet Winery, Fisher Vineyards, Harlan Estate, Harris Estate Vineyards, Realm Cellars, Revana Family Vineyard, Rudd Winery, Sawyer Cellars, Sherwin Family Vineyards, The Napa Valley Reserve, Venge Vineyards and Zacherle Winery. The Chef’s Garden of Jacksonville, prepared a dinner consisting of Fennell and Watercress Salad, Butternut Squash Risotto, a Braised Beef and Poached Snapper Duo, followed by Bananas Foster with Rum Caramel in Chocolate Dipped Phyllo, Tiramisu and Petite Apple Pie with Bourbon Soaked Cheddar. We are still receiving many compliments on the wonderful dinner menu.

Tom Hager of Thomas Hager Photography was the official photographer of our 50th Anniversary Ball. All of his photographs will be available for viewing and purchase within two weeks.
Our guests were entertained by the students and faculty from Jacksonville University’s College of Fine Arts. The musicians played for our guests as they arrived and also played in the galleries during our dinner hour. A special thanks to Dean Bill Hill for working with the museum to provide our guests with quality entertainment.

The RiverTown Band, Jacksonville’s Premier Party Band, rocked the house in the Terry Gallery. The dance floor was packed and full of energy. Our guests enjoyed the band so much that the band played well into the night!
