Donor Highlight – Florida Blue

Oct

02

Florida Blue Logo

This month’s donor highlight is all about Florida Blue, a truly important partner that provides weekly evening access for visitors to enjoy exhibitions, activities, and programming at the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens.  Their investment supports the largest free access program at the Cummer Museum, and one of the largest free cultural programs in the region.   Florida Blue Free Tuesdays served 27,488 individuals on 50 Tuesday evenings this year.  The visitation during Florida Blue Free Tuesdays is the most diverse of any time at the Museum, with individuals of all ages, races, abilities, and experiences coming from every corner of the community.

A wide variety of programs and activities are available to visitors during Florida Blue Free Tuesdays.  Museum Highlight Tours of the Permanent Collection, special exhibitions, and Gardens occur every Tuesday night.  Live music, provided by both local and traveling musicians that are part of Jacksonville Songwriters Residency, are featured every week in the Cummer Café during Tapas Tuesdays.  All visitors have access to the Create kiosk where they can enjoy painting with watercolors in the Gardens.  Students from local colleges and universities have access to the Galleries and Gardens for class assignments, research, and field trips.

Without the financial burden of admission, Florida Blue Free Tuesdays provides thousands of citizens access to children’s art-making opportunities, home school field trips, family activities, strolls in the Cummer Gardens, and a place to connect with art and one another.  We are grateful to Florida Blue, because Florida Blue Free Tuesdays contributes significantly to the quality of life in the city of Jacksonville, and to the programming capacity of the Museum.
