Help keep a Piece of Deep River in Jacksonville!

Aug

20

Thousands of visitors have experienced the power of Whitfield Lovell: Deep River since it opened at the Cummer Museum on May 20. In just a few short weeks, Deep River will be packed up for its next destination. However, the Museum’s acquisition board — inspired by the passionate feedback of our Members and friends in the community — has moved to purchase one special piece from this extraordinary exhibition, Pago Pago.Funds are in place to cover the majority of the cost to acquire Pago Pago, but we need your help to keep a piece of Deep River in Jacksonville. If we meet our goal, the Museum will be able to add Pago Pago to the Permanent Collection. We anticipate this acquisition will become a cornerstone of the Museum experience, bridging the gap between historically significant content and modern art.

We are thrilled to have the rare opportunity to purchase a dynamic, mixed-media piece by a living American artist. In keeping with Ninah Cummer’s vision we recognize that this piece will not belong solely to the Museum; it will become the shared property of the entire community, with our staff fulfilling the duty of ensuring its care and maintenance for future generations.

Donations at the suggested support levels below will receive special perks, but gifts of any amount are both welcome and deeply appreciated. Click here to write-in your level of support.

All donors at this level will receive an invitation to attend the Pago Pago unveiling party at the Cummer Museum (September 24), including complimentary admission and a glass of Champagne to toast the community’s efforts to add this significant piece to the Permanent Collection, plus a commemorative limited-run reproduction featuring Pago Pago as a token of our gratitude.
