As summer comes to an end, the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens must also say “Adios” to the visiting exhibition, Miradas: Ancient Roots in Modern and Contemporary Mexican Art: Works from the Bank of America Collection, which features rich and vibrant artwork created by Mexican artists living on both sides of the border. On Friday, September 14, we will host a Mexican Fiesta. This event will be a great way for you to enjoy a fun, cultural experience with friends and family, and take a final look at the exhibition. Weather permitting, The Cummer Gardens will come alive with the sights, sounds, and tastes of Mexico. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. for a 7 to 9 p.m. Fiesta.
Entertainment will include a dance performance by Ballet Folkloric group, “Mexico en la Piel”, and music by Goliath Flores and Mariachi group, Mariachi Nuevo Guadalajara. TreeCup Café will have traditional Mexican fare along with beer and wine for purchase, but you are welcome to pack a picnic. Or, leave the chairs, blankets and picnic basket at home and opt for a reserved table which seats ten people and includes a gourmet Mexican Picnic Dinner prepared by TreeCup Café.
This promises to be another magical experience at the Cummer Museum and one you will not want to miss. Tickets for the Fiesta are $10 for members, $20 for non-members and $400 for Tables of 10. In case of rain, the Fiesta will be moved indoors. For more information or to purchase tickets, please visit our website or call Louise Stevens at (904) 899-6004.
