New View – Terry Parker

Jul

22

NV 3Currently hanging in the Education Gallery of the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens is our annual New View exhibition. This year the museum partnered with the students and faculty of Terry Parker High-School to create a show that closely related to the recent exhibition Jim Draper: Feast of Flowers as well as the museum’s Garden Month programming. Students looked to the Museum’s permanent collection as well as its Gardens for inspiration.  The result is a wealth of interpretations represented in a variety of media including, drawing, cyanotype, embossing, clay, and the written word. More than just a single art lesson, New View was enthusiastically adopted at Terry Parker by six International Baccalaureate program teachers and coordinators as a comprehensive project that supported several areas of existing classroom standards including science, foreign language, and fine arts.
