The Cummer Museum at the Florida Association of Museums

The Florida Association of Museum met in Jacksonville September 7 through 10 and Cummer Museum Educators presented information on sustainability in museums and the visitor experience.  The Future is Now!  Museums and the Environment , moderated by Director of Education Lynn Norris, featured  presentations by Jennifer Esler, President and CEO of the Elliott Museum, Dulce Roman, Chief Curator at the Harn Museum of Art, and Karl Boecklen, Museum Educator at the Cummer Museum.  The session included a hands-on period where participants brainstormed ways to increase sustainability in their own museums.

Lynn Norris also taught a day-long session on the Cummer Museum’s approach to visitor experience training.  Artist Stephanie Brown was assigned to the session to visually record its content to be displayed in the registration lobby.  Visitor experience training is required for all Cummer Staff.

Cummer Museum staff were able to network with museum professionals from around the state and build for future collaborations.
