Join Curator Holly Keris on Tuesday night for a lecture about the power and passion behind Meissen Porcelain. The Cummer’s collection of Early Meissen Porcelain, donated by St. Augustine siblings Ralph and Constance Wark in 1965, is considered the most significant collection of its type in the United States and one of the top three collections of its type in the world.
The Meissen manufactory was started by Augustus the Strong, Elector of Saxony and King of Poland, as the first European porcelain manufactory. Celebrating its 300th anniversary in 2010, the company is still among the world’s leading porcelain manufacturers. Come hear how it all got started, and learn more about The Cummer’s collection, on display in the newly renovated Betsy and William D. Lovett Gallery.
