Carolyn (center) learning she won the award!

On Sunday, December 4, 2016, at the annual Docent Holiday Party, Carolyn Cooper was awarded the Riley Gordon Granger Jr. Distinguished Docent Award. This award is presented annually to the Docent who has given the most time leading tours and displaying flexibility and willingness to work in other programs.

Carolyn began volunteering at the Museum two years ago after retiring from her career of 30 years teaching Middle School and High School science. Carolyn gives tours multiple days a week for PreK to Middle School grades, covering subjects from Gardens to General Art History. She also volunteers for special events such as the Very Special Arts Festival (VSA). Carolyn’s passion for education and her dedication to the Docent program is unwavering and a true inspiration. If you see her in the hallway or on a tour please congratulate her for all her hard work!
