The 2015-2016 Junior Docents are putting the finishing touches on their 2016 exhibition. Individually charged with illustrating a scene from a favorite book, short story, or poem, they have collectively designed and installed their vision, “An Odyssey”.
This is what they have to say about their showing:
An Odyssey is a long, wandering voyage, in which the hero changes with the challenges they face. These sketches were derived from scenes from literature and they are arranged to represent a story arc. The exhibit begins with pieces that represent the beginning of a journey, either physical or spiritual, then the exhibit transitions to pieces that portray chaos, characterized by an obstacle or a spiritual quest for the hero. The exhibit concludes with the resolution of this conflict with the world that it creates.
The exhibition will be open to the public in the Art Connections Round Room Gallery from April 20th to April 24th. At that time, our Very Special Arts exhibition will be put in place for the month of May. The Junior Docent’s, “An Odyssey”, will return again starting June 1st and will remain throughout the summer months.
