As Reflections: Artful Perspectives on the St.Johns River comes to a close this Sunday, October 25th, the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens is excited to celebrate this beautiful exhibition with another special piece of programming, the inaugural performance of “To the Sea.” In partnership with Players by the Sea, “To the Sea” is an original piece based on stories told by Jim Alabiso to Jacksonville playwright Kelby Siddons.
“Water is an integral part of the human spirit. When our tribe of swimmers meet at the sea we all come away happier, relaxed, and primed for the day. It is where the physical and spiritual meet. Right out in the open where you can see,” says Alabiso.
Join the Museum in celebrating this beautifully-written work about the joy and energy of water. The Museum will open its doors at 6 p.m. for guests to enjoy the Galleries (Museum admission is included with your ticket price) and a wine and cheese pre-reception, with the performance starting at 7 p.m. Afterwards, stay for a talk back with the cast and crew of this thought-provoking work about the healing and intense powers of the water.
For more information on the play check out great coverage in Arbus Magazine, EU Jacksonville and on Metro Jacksonville.
