Undie Sunday – Supporting Dignity U Wear

Apr

29

The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens is hosting Undie Sunday, a clothing drive to collect new underwear and undergarments for children and families in need to benefit Dignity U Wear, the Jacksonville based national nonprofit. On Sundays, May 1st, 8th, & 15th, 2011, visitors who bring a pack of new underwear will receive 50% off one regular admission.

Since its initiation in 2006, Undie Sunday Undie Monday has collected close to 400,000 pieces of clothing including new underwear, bras, socks and even diapers.  Dignity U Wear’s mission is to positively impact the lives of children and their families in need by providing brand new clothing at no cost to the recipients.  To do this, they partners with the apparel industry to provide the supply of clothing and then work through a network of social service agencies to deliver the clothing based on specified needs. Founded by Henri Landwirth in 2000, the organization has provided more than 6.6 million pieces, valued at $120 million, to more than 450,000 people.

For more information about Undie Sunday at The Cummer, please call (904) 356-6857.
