Founded in the streets of Asheville, North Carolina, Canary in the Coalmine is a Jacksonville based folk group influenced by Appalachian folk and alternative country sounds. This Americana folk band is led by songwriters Jessica Pounds and Sandy Wicker. Members include Peter Mosely on upright bass and backing vocals, Philip Pan on violin, Arvid Smith on dobro, mellobar, mandolin, and guitars, and Eric Bailey on drums/percussion.
They are just one of three groups performing at The Cummer’s Garden Concert: A Night of Americana on June 28,2014 from 7-9 p.m. (doors at 6 p.m.). Bring a blanket, chairs, and your favorite foods and beverages (alcohol is permitted). Enjoy a picnic in The Cummer Gardens with a view of the St. Johns River, while listening to the sounds of some of the most talented musicians in Jacksonville! The group has earned acclaim from EU Magazine, NPR, Folio Weekly and countless others.
