The Jacksonville Old Time Jam was founded in August 2011 in order to preserve, foster, and spark a passion for Old Time music in Northeast Florida. They will be one of the three performing groups for The Cummer’s Garden Concert: A Night of Americana on June 28 from 7-9 p.m. (doors at 6 p.m.). The cost is $20 for Members, $25 for Non-members, and $400 for a table of 10. Bring a blanket, chairs, and your favorite foods and beverages (alcohol is permitted), and enjoy a picnic in The Cummer Gardens with a view of the St. Johns River, while listening to the sounds of some of the most talented musicians in Jacksonville! If you don’t feel like packing a picnic, let The Café do all the work for you. Preorder your boxed dinner from The Café by calling 904.899.6022. For more information or to make your required reservation, click HERE or call 904.899.6038.

Jacksonville Old Time Jam draws much of their influence from a musical style called old-time music. A prominent genre in North-American folk music, old-time music orginates from a diverse group of countries including Ireland, Britain, Africa, and Continental Europe. Its popularity grew alongside many popular folk dances, such as square-dancing, flatfoot dancing, buck dancing, and clogging. Old-time music is generally played using all acoustic instruments including a fiddle accompanied by other plucked string instruments like a banjo or a guitar.
